The program is a year long… I worry about falling behind due to travel, work schedule, guests, emergencies, etc.
Fear not! The pacing of the program will allow you to find the timing that works for you in the space. The lessons are designed to be doable and flexible, and you can easily adapt and shift them to the events of your life. We’ll have only one lesson a month and one monthly support call, plus a one-on-one call if you’re doing the full-focus level. If you have a vacation or a crazy month, you can always do that month’s lesson the following month or adapt as you see fit—there is no “falling behind.”
I designed this program so that it wouldn’t overly tax the participants, because I know my own work cycle all too well: I know that I can work like gangbusters and ride the flow, but ultimately I need times of rest. Certainly this is true for all of us!
If you’re thinking things like, “I want to do this program, but I’m afraid that it’ll add one too many things to my plate or that I won’t be able to finish it,” or “Annamieka has all this shiny, happy, brightly-colored energy—I couldn’t possibly keep up with her,” or “I’m too young/old/inexperienced/experienced,” I want you to know that I’ll be showing you the behind the scenes reality of how I actually make my work. The fact is, I’m not full-energy all the time, and you will be seeing me figuring out how to go deep this year. We’ll be taking a vulnerable creative journey together.
I want to become a better painter. Will this course teach me to paint?
This is not a paint-like-me course. This is a course about strengthening your own creative practice and making a cohesive body of work. If you want to learn painting techniques from me, my Wild Wonder ecourse is perfect for you. Wild Wonder is a self-paced online course where I walk you step-by-step through learning my painting techniques, so if this is your goal, I urge you to take that course instead. You don’t have to be a painter to participate in Let’s Go Deep— you can be a creative of any stripe. In the inaugural round of Let’s Go Deep we had painters, photographers, printmakers, filmmakers, writers and people who worked in 3-dimensions. There will be lots of interaction among the group as we ask ourselves the questions about the work itself and hone our styles. We will all develop a new portfolio of several works to reflect our own voices.
Tell me more about the portfolio review.
The portfolio review is awesome! It’s a special time together to look deep into your work.
The type of portfolio I’m talking about creating during Let's Go Deep—which I believe can take us to the next level—is a mindful, focused, cohesive portfolio. It can be as small as three works, or up to ten works or more. The point is that the portfolio explores your range and your voice in exploring a particular idea.
For example, I’m currently putting together a portfolio of Pacific Northwest-inspired botanical paintings for a gallery show.
Another type of portfolio could be about something you want to say, like if you’re interested in making art about feminism, global warming, or another cause or idea. You’d make a body of work and then select and refine what goes into your portfolio. Your portfolio is what you’re beaming out into the world. And - a portfolio says what kind of work you are available to do more of. So make sure your portfolio is calling in the work you want to make!
We’ll be talking about ways to put your portfolio together and where to go next. However, this is not a business or branding class. You won’t learn about making a website. Yet this will help all of those efforts, because the most important thing that an artist needs is a cohesive body of work.

Our monthly lessons will generally be on the First Wednesday of every month at 10am PST, with a few exceptions, you can see the dates above, on this page (scroll up). During these calls, hosted on the Zoom video platform, I talk through the month’s lesson as a whole, and then open it up to discussion at the end for whoever is attending live. I encourage you to attend live if at all possible, but if you’re not able to attend, that’s OK. The call recording will be posted in the online classroom within 24 hours after the call, so you can watch it, or listen podcast style, audio only at your convenience.
Live Q and A call monthly
You'll be able to ask me your burning questions about the lessons so you can apply the teachings to your own journey
You are invited to submit your questions ahead of time so I can research the best resources to share with you
The Q & A call will take place the Second Wednesday of the month at 10am PST. Again, if you can't attend live, the Q & A call will be recorded and made available for you to watch, or listen to podcast-style once the recording is posted.
Private Slack group
A private group where you can get support, feedback and guidance from me and your fellow participants. This is vulnerable work we're doing so it really helps to have a community who understands the journey you're on and who has your back.
A note about Slack: This part of the course is totally optional. Slack is not required to get the most out of the experience. I will create a "How-to” for Slack to show you how we will use it.
Individualized plan for working through the program
1-on-1 session via video conference during the early part of our year to create an individualized plan for working through the program to make sure your needs are met.
1-on-1 session via video conference. This will be scheduled near the end of our program year. You'll have my eyes on your work all year but this is our moment to really celebrate and go in-depth in a 1-on-1 session. You'll get my perspectives on your new work, within the context of your year of growth, to help you clarify your own style and voice at this powerful time in your career!

What's your refund policy?
There are no refunds. By signing up, you are committing to yourself, to your art practice, and to me for the year. Imagine that you have wanted to go to the moon your entire life. Think of your commitment to Let’s Go Deep like a super-valuable ticket that buys you one seat on the NASA rocket that is going to the moon. Once you buy that ticket, you are going to be getting on that rocket no matter what happens! Kids, dogs, work, school, money, time, energy - it doesn't matter, you are going to show up and get on that rocketship to see the stars no matter what it takes. It will change your life forever and you'll always thank yourself for making it happen. That is level of commitment that I am asking for when you sign up for this program, and that is why I don't give refunds. Also I am running a business and that is not how the program works.
However, I am a reasonable human being and if something truly comes up and you can't continue the program, we will work it out in communication together. Thank you!
Am I gonna love it?
Oh honey, you're gonna love it - I promise! And, as with everything growth-filled and awesome, there are bound to be some uncomfortable places along the way. Stick with it. Communicate with me. Let me know how I can support you, how this program can support you getting the results that you wish to get out of it. Ultimately, it is up to you to implement this and make it a part of your life. But trust me, if you show up and do the work, you will get to a new place in your creative practice. For sure!
But don't just take my word for it...here are a few testimonials from past Let’s Go Deep participants!
"I learned so much from Annamieka’s wonderful course Let’s Go Deep. I rediscovered my creativity in my 40s, so it never occurred to me to attend art school. Annamieka’s teaching, guidance and encouragement have therefore been invaluable on my art journey. She helped me dive deep into my creative process and brought to my awareness aspects of my art that I wasn’t able to perceive clearly myself. She made me look at my art in a totally new way. Our focus in Let’s Go Deep, to come up with a coherent body of work, bore fruit and by the end of the course I was asked to participate in a group exhibition! I highly recommend all her offerings. She is a remarkable person and a wonderfully supportive mentor."

”Let’s Go Deep is about developing a productive and meaningful creative practice as a visual artist. It’s thoughtfully, brilliantly designed to help you do that. And, as the name implies, it might go deeper than that. It certainly did for me. Something about Annamieka’s program helped me step back from my life-long sense of urgency to "make art"... to "be an artist”... and just give myself some space to figure out what the heck that actually meant for me! With this new perspective, I have an incredibly satisfying feeling of being at home in myself. I still have a sense of quest, but the urgency is gone. I know that it’s going to be a lifelong love affair, always evolving, always taking new forms. That's what being an artist means to me now. Annamieka was the perfect mentor for me in this mind- and heart-expanding process. I chose to take advantage of monthly one-on-one sessions and a day-long studio visit with her (in addition to the wonderful group meetings). She met me where I was, messy month after messy month. She is a phenomenally gifted guide. Let's Go Deep was a priceless experience. Powerfully transformational.”

“Most helpful to me were the Monthly Live videos (they personalize the experience) and the written lessons.
The mentoring sessions were the best!!
The most impact came from our mentoring session where Annamieka helped me create boundaries around a client project that required more time than was originally agreed upon. Learning the language for contracts including a ‘kill fee’ was invaluable!
The course felt like Architecture to Creativity. The course built a beautiful support system to create space for art making. It was truly wonderful.”
One year from now, you could have a strong, cohesive body of work, and an art practice that fits like your favorite jacket. Powerful & truly YOU. Now tell me, what's that worth to you? Let's make it happen!

Thank you and I can hardly freaking wait to go deep with you!
