Something new was born along with my baby: a new workshop process! When Skye was three weeks old, I filmed instructional videos for a new online class while wearing her in the baby carrier. To create this class, I taped up several huge pieces of paper to the wall. Then, I put on a great playlist and danced around, making a huge variety of marks. It was a total expression session. After the expression session, I cut out my favorite marks and then combined them into a smaller collage. The process was so much fun! I was inspired to create this class because I am a guest teacher in the LifeBook online course. But the class I created was so much fun, I want to teach it live in my Portland studio! This is the perfect workshop to do if you haven't ever painted, or if you haven't painted in a while, or if you just need to shake things up and get your creative mojo going. We are going to have a superfun time and I hope you can join me!

I'm calling this workshop Get Free because everything we are going to do is going to challenge you to shake things up, get your mojo going, and work in new ways.
Here’s how our retreat day will look: We will start out the day working HUGE, dancing, shaking it up and literally flinging paint around in new ways. We will work collaboratively and see how working together introduces a new approach to artmaking. We will cut apart our morning's painting and layer our favorite marks over and underneath, creating a new piece from what we find delights us the most. Lunch and your art materials are all included in this luxurious, full day of free expression. Just show up with an open heart and be ready to roll up your sleeves and get messy!

If you find yourself in a pickle, let’s talk, but due to the intimate nature of this event, and preparations including food & supplies, retreat registrations are non-refundable.
This workshop will be a family affair. My baby will be three months old by the time we have the workshop and so I will probably wear my baby for part of the workshop and my mom Nancy and my stepdad Ken will be assisting me with the baby and also participating in the workshop. There will be breaks for snacking, lunch, and of course, I will be nursing the baby a few times as needed throughout the day. Invite your own friends and family - it is going to be a very special day!
